Proposed Nevada House
Project Details
This project involves the structural analysis and design for a proposed new residential dwelling. The scope required modern structural engineering solutions integrating a wood framing system with Douglas-Fir lumber and specialized headers, supported by a foundation system comprising concrete pad and wall footings designed to perform under high seismic demands.
The design process included a rigorous assessment of environmental loads to ensure compatibility with Seismic Design Category D requirements. The structural members were engineered in strict accordance with the 2018 Nevada Building Code (NBC) and ASCE 7-16 seismic provisions, focusing on safety, serviceability, and structural stability. Extensive attention was dedicated to lateral load resistance through a comprehensive shearwall layout and intricate connection detailing, utilizing high-capacity Simpson Strong-Tie hardware to ensure the building’s overall resilience against significant seismic and wind forces
Role
Structural Engineer/Designer
Services Provided
The scope of services includes the preparation of structural calculations and drawings for the project. Structural calculations shall consist of loading analyses, including wind, seismic, dead, and live loads, as well as the structural analysis and design of all structural components. These components include, but are not limited to, foundations, columns, beams, shear walls, load-bearing walls, lintels, and headers. Structural drawings shall include a foundation plan, floor framing plans, a roof framing plan, shear wall layout plans, and all necessary structural details, notes, and specifications required for construction and permitting.
